We’re posting common questions and answers about the SuperConductor on this page – Contact us directly with your SuperConductor questions.

Q: In order to connect to the SC through a web browser, do you need to re-configure your pc’s NIC settings for TCP/IP? Most are set for DHCP but I noticed the IP address of the SC was something like 192.168.1.2. Usually, you need to have the pc’s NIC static IP set in the same subnet doamin (i.e. 192.168.1.XX).
A: The SC is shipped with a default address of 192.168.1.2. You can change this via the knob-and-screen (Local Configuration Mode), or after logging in via a computer, using the SuperConductor web interface. For most systems, you will need to set your computer to be on the same subnet in order to connect to the SuperConductor.

Q: What is the default IP address for the SC?
A: The SC has a default address of 192.168.1.2. For most systems, you will need to set your computer to be on the same subnet.

Q: Is the interface cable required a standard ethernet or a cross over? Does the SC auto-sense?
A: To connect a computer directly to the SuperConductor use a crossover cable. If the SuperConductor is connected to a hub / network all cables will be straight-through (standard).

Q: On the scheduler, it appears that any conflicts will be over-ridden by the higher priority line and the lower priority not played at all. Can the lower priority just be played after the higher priority?
A: The higher priority task will get played and the lower priority task will not. The unit does not ‘bump’ the lower priority task back to play after the higher priority event has finished. This would have to be done by programming the lower priority event to play at a later time. Note that the lower-priority task only fails to play when a higher-priority task is actively playing – for example, the next scheduled lower priority ‘task’ – i.e. the 2nd repeat of a repeated sound – will play if not in conflict with a high-priority task.

Q: If there is a conflict, will the user be alerted so you can adjust by a few minutes?
A: Not currently (but an excellent idea – this is going on the feature “Wish List” for the dev team). Review your schedule and test carefully.

Q: Is the schedule stored in flash RAM or do you need to re-program if the unit is disconnected from power for an extended period of time?
A: The configuration information is stored on the removable memory (SD) so there would be no need to reprogram even if the unit was offline / powered off for months. Note that ALL SuperConductor data is stored on the memory stick – sounds, configuration, knob assignments, and schedule. This means that you can backup / clone the entire SuperConductor by duplicating the memory stick and putting it into an 2nd SuperConductor – very handy!
